Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to get together for a feast. In our families the kids watch movies and play games. The grownups talk and watch scary movies. The pilgrims and Indians started Thanksgiving long ago.

In math we have learned about line segment.

Some of us signed up for book club.We are in it.We like the book so far.The book is called Stone Fox.We are having fun in a 

lot of our thing, but I like science the best.We get to learn about Earth materials, and we get to see whats in a Snickers.We got to eat a Snickers too.  After lunch we go to recess, and we play football. Being lunch room worker is fun unless you want to miss recess,but we don't like to miss recess.In social studies we are learning about land forms, and we read Time for Kids and have fun during social studies.

What we learned so far in PE we will be working with the Kindergarten and 2nd grade and 3rd grade. We worked with them this year a lot already we can just imagine how much more we will work with them it will be fun we know it will be.

So far in social studies have done latitude and longitude lines, and we are learning landforms.

We are doing ssrw in school. It is where you read, write or write a story. You can not draw or talk otherwise you will be in trouble. A lot of kids in our class like ssrw because our teacher counts our pages instead of counting how many minutes you read. We do it so we can get our pages in.

Hello our names are Caitlyn and Myah we are going to tell you a little about what we’ve been doing in 4th grade this year.

In reading we learned about the Titanic sinking, the Titanic was a famous ship that sailed the across the ocean. On its first voyage to New York City it hit an iceberg and sank.There weren’t many survivors     In science we also learned what was in a Snickers bar, we cut the Snickers in half and saw what was in the candy.

*In social studies we are learning about landforms and we also do time for kids (TFK) .

*In math we have learned about polygons and we’re learning about whole numbers.

*In reading we have read Akiak, Grandfather’s Journey, Finding the Titanic, By the Shores of Silver Lake (Laura Ingalls Wilder book), Chester Cricket’s Pigeon Ride, and The Parcel Post Kid.

*In Language Arts (spelling, writing, and grammar)

we have learned about homophones, compound words, and compound sentences.

We like math because we play fun games on the Smartboard and watch videos on a website called BrainPOP. We like P.E. because we get to play flashlight tag and spider. We like science because we get to do experiments and we learn about different cycles. We like doing projects and playing games on our computers and our iPads. We like reading our chapter books and doing book club because we get to make goals and discuss our  books. We liked reading the Titanic. Have your class learned about the Titanic. We have read the book called Finding The  Titanic. It is about a big ship that hits an iceberg and starts to sink. When it was sinking it split into two and many people died.

Computers and iPads

In our school, we get to use computers and iPads.  We use computers to do research.  We use iPads to learn and to play games that help us learn.  We can also type stories to.  We cannot keep them on for to long.  We also take pictures with iPads.

Specials

In specials we have P.E., Art, Library, Music, Guidance, Spanish, Chinese, Computer Lab. In P.E. we play Basketball, Flashlight Tag, Volleyball, football, hoola hooping, jump roping, soccer, kickball and a lot more. In Art we do clay, painting, coloring, plaster and a lot more. In Library we read. In Music we sing play keyboards, recorders and an lot more. In Chinese we play games and learn numbers, directions and a lot more. In Spanish we play games and learn our numbers and letters. In the computer Lab we play games, learn how to type correctly and do tests on the computer and smart board.

Switching Classes

Hi we are Madi and Caitlyn in froth grade we switch classes. Our home room is Mrs.Juilfs. Mrs.Juilfs teaches reading and science. Our other teacher is Mrs.Yoder and she teaches math and social studies. She has a class pet a turtle named Leo and sucker fish named Cheesecake.  We have a curtain which separates our class room from the other one, we can hear the other class if they’re being noisy. The classes get mixed up for math and reading, we’re in math and reading group, we have math in the morning and reading in the afternoon. 

Recess

We play football at recess and we play two hand touch. If we play tackle football we get in trouble. We play with the older kids.We are so good at it we play rough. We get in a lot of trouble. On the tire swing we spin really fast. The girls don’t play sports they play tag. there is a piece of equiptment that spins. the girls slide and and swing.

Refocus Forms

Refocus forms are bad for you because you get in trouble. You get one warning then it’s   

a refocus. When you get refocus you have to go in an other room. You have to write your behavior on a refocus form. When you get a refocus form you get in too much trouble. You get two copies and bring them home and your mom signs one and keep one and bring one back. We feel sad because we wish we didn’t do it.

Student Jobs

Fourth graders and fifth graders help serve the whole school lunch.They wipe the food off the tables that people spill. Fourth graders and fifth graders help put up the American flag on the flag pole.

We have a classroom helper everyday that is the line leader, paper passer, and at the end of the day they make sure the  room is clean.

What We have at KE

Our favorite teacher is Mrs. Juilfs she is our 4th grade teacher. We have lots of students at school. In school we have pre school, Kindergarten,1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. We have many staffs we have speech,esl class and many more and my name is Em and my partners name is Sarah.

Super Kid Notes

Here in Kalona Elementary when you be a good sport and be a good role model. You might get a super kid note. When you get a super kid note. You go down to the office and put it in a big box. And on Friday  morning somebody will draw a note and if they call your name you will get a super kid t-shirt and you will get your picture taken and put on a bullatain board.

A Little About Kalona

Hello our names are Karsen and Myah.

We have a middle school and an Elementary school they are both in Kalona beside each other. 

We live in an Amish country, part of it is very old fashioned, we are different from the Amish because they ride in buggies and they don't have any electronics, we drive cars and not buggies we are very different from the Amish and are not Amish. 

We have a Yotty’s hardware store in Kalona,it has every material you need.

Yottys ice cream is the best homemade ice cream in the world, they have any kind of flavor or brand of ice cream you want.

We have  Myah`s favorite restaurant is Tuscan Moon it has burgers six inches long and six inches wide they are so juicy and good, They also have giant desserts they are very sweet.

We have Kalona Bars and they are ice cream and gram crackers with chocolate.
